Georgetown Fashion?...

As I stood at the street corner waiting anxiously for the street light cross walk to turn to that little white walking man... the only thing I could do to compose myself from bursting out into laughter was to scan this man's outfit so that I could "paint" it for you on the glorious Microsoft Paint as soon as I got home.

One word... Hottie.

BOOTS!

I spotted these boots at Urban Outfitters and I am dying to have them... only one problem... they're $78 and I just can't justify spending that much on a pair of shoes. Have you seen any great bargain boots during your holiday shopping trips similar to these?

Do It Yourself: Jewelry Tree

I have been wanting a Jewelry Tree ($70?! Really?) for a long time... I had my sights set on a white metal tree from Urban Outfitters for about $35 and then I thought... I can just make this myself!

I found the perfect branch and just screwed it tight onto a wooden base I bought at Michaels Craft Store for only $3.

Viola!
Super easy right?! And rather than a manufactured "tree," your Jewelry Tree will be one of a kind! Right now, my Jewelry Tree is natural but I may paint it with some white gloss paint for strength. So far though the branches are holding up just fine! It complements my natural Origami Crane Mobile well too! :)

*please note: I am too poor to buy a camera for the moment so my Droid camera will just have to do

Who Wants To Be My Plus 1?!

About every month, I check Amos Lee's website for tour dates near me... Last night, right before bed I checked again and GUESS WHAT?! He's coming to DC April 6!!

First thing this morning, I bought 2 tickets... one for me and one for an unknown person who will be the luckiest person in the world :) He's playing at 9:30 Club in DC, which is known for its intimate atmosphere and is, from what I hear, one of the best music venues in the country. I can't think of a better way to spend a cool April night...

A few of my paintings inspired by his songs:

"We all need a place where we can go and feel over the rainbow"

"When you're gone, all the colors seem to fade"
And of course, a picture I drew of the man himself :)

Update

You wanna know what's hard? Trying to upkeep and maintain a blog without a computer. Yep.

When I started this blog in July of this year, I was without a computer and I still am... but on the bright side! My computer is fixed and I should have it today or tomorrow! Yay! Hopefully my posts will improve because I won't be looking over my shoulder at work for the fear of being "caught" blogging.

As of today, I have had about 3,500 pageviews. Now, compared to the World Wide Web and all of it's wonders, I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but I can't help but smile when I see the numbers climb...

Call Me A Dreamer

Call me voyeuristic, call me creepy, call me curious... but I can't help but wonder how other people live their lives and what they're all about.

I'm surrounded by buildings where half the lights are out, and I wonder what are these people about. What do they do for a living? How much do they make? Is it enough? Do they have a family? What are their worries? Troubles? How do they escape from it all?

Growing up, if I couldn't subdue my mind or worries, I would go for a drive. Now, my car wasn't the most luxurious but it was my sanctuary. A little red/orange/magenta (the color is still undecided) '96 Dodge Neon Sport.. complete with my favorite accessory, the sunroof.. oh and the confetti seats were super stylish.

On a bad day, I would hop in my car, roll down the windows, and blast Such Great Heights by Postal Service. This is really where my love for music came about... lyrics and their unequivocal ability to make you feel what the songwriter was feeling at that very moment.. a peak into their lives. I would dream about driving until I couldn't drive anymore. Destination unknown. It didn't matter. I just wanted to GO, and see what else was out there. I would idle through neighborhoods and catch a glimpse of other families in their homes and wonder are they as lost as me?

My 17 year old self still had a lot to learn and now at 23, I think I have learned how to better align my expectations with reality. I still have so much left to learn... but I'm still a dreamer.. and I still wonder what your lives are all about.
